This week I have been printing cards for the Etsy Christmas pop-up in Sydney. It was also a friend’s first wedding anniversary recently and as the traditional gift for a first anniversary is paper, I decided to use one of the designs from my cards and alter it to make print that could be framed. The print is of two geometric hearts printed in copper and is part of a limited edition of 10 prints. I have listed the rest of the prints in my Etsy store if you would like one for yourself or somebody special. Happy Friday everyone 🙂
I was having a clean up the other day and came across some prints I started a while ago that I never finished. Do you remember the Christmas cards I made last year? Well I used one of the designs to screenprint some larger prints, but they kind of sat there for a while and I wasn’t sure what to with them and I lost interest (or inspiration). So, sitting at home on a rainy Sydney Saturday and with Christmas around the corner I decided to chop them up and make some more cards. It seems this design was always destined to be festive. I hope you are also having a crafty and creative weekend 🙂
Do you remember the maps I designed a while back? Well the fine folk behind East Sydney Creative (ESC) asked me to design one for Escape Early on Wednesdays, a campaign promoting film, art, music and design in the East Sydney area. ESC invites you to enjoy exhibitions, gigs, talks, pop up cinema, installations and more, in and around Darlinghurst, Paddington, East Sydney and Surry Hills. Tonight you can yarn bomb, catch a film at the Paddington Town Hall or share Dirty Little Secrets and see a live performance at the Oxford Art Factory… and that’s just for starters! Escape Early on Wednesdays is part of Art and About 2013 and runs from September 25 until October 16 2013. Check out the website or facebook page for more information.
Mini gift cards!
One thing I struggle with is writing messages in cards. I sit for ages wondering what to write. I decided the best way around this is to give smaller cards! If you suffer the same affliction as me or are searching for some cute and quirky, handmade gift cards, they are available here. 🙂
Yay! I can finally share with you a project I have recently finished. Late last year I was contacted by Metro Screen, an independent screen learning and development hub in NSW, they wondered if I would be interested in illustrating a pattern that they could use on their website, across social media and in print. Are you kidding? I would love to. So here it is. It is already being used online but I think that I am most excited about seeing it printed on posters, stationery and other promotional material. Metro Screen also made a little video of me working on this project. I find it harder to work when someone is watching me so it took a bit of convincing for me to agree to this. I am so used to be being behind a camera that it I wasn’t sure I wanted to be in front it! I have been rather anonymous on my blog until now, so I am little nervous showing this, but here goes.
P.S. concentration faces are funny!
